I’ve spent the past week recovering from the hard work (and great fun) of covering the national political conventions in Tampa and Charlotte. Here are some more images.
- A family at the Ron Paul rally
- The party next to the exterior camera
- The sun sets in Tampa the evening Romney rises to the podium
- Backwards Romney Mask
- Perennial presidential candidate Vermin Supreme in the Charlotte protests
- The flags are next at the DNC
- His hat, it has three corners. Three corners has his hat.
- Looking up into the globe in the city of Charlotte convention center booth
- The control room for TimesCast, DNC, Charlotte
- Creepy backwards James Brown mask on a man in a dress on the sidewalk in Charlotte
- With recent Medill MSJ graduates working the Republican convention
I accompanied New York Times National Political Correspondent Jeff Zeleny at a street fair called Carolinafest, where we found volunteers for the Obama registering voters in hopes of their candidate winning North Carolina as he did — by the smallest of margins — in 2008. That story is viewable here.
Sometimes you work really hard on a story and technical snafus mess it up. In Iowa — on a beautiful afternoon at the state fair — I followed Ron Paul supporters who had become delegates to the Republican convention. The story ended up freezing in the file server during the live broadcast and only half of it played. Here’s the full version.
